The A-series was around for several years before it went into the Mini, and people were making them go faster from day one.
I've been looking but can't find a definitive answer - when did the first 7-port head surface ?
Was it in the 50s or 60s ?

Alexander 7 port was designed in 1958 was in full production by 1959
