Looking at getting the 61 van interior re done, question is on the dash was the shelf in the tan or was it black from the factory?

The door bin liners were they in black or were they also tan.

CS custom upholstery are doing the trimming, I just wanted to be sure on the colours.

Back in the 1960's i remember my older brothers Mini Van had all tan trim (shelf and door pockets) as in the photos below. Early Mini Vans with the original Tan vinyl interior also had a distinctive smell, different from the saloons!

Thanks for that, I did lots of google searches, and sort of come up wit the results, though its hard to see on some black and white photos.

My brothers 1965 Whitehall Beige Mini Van also had rubber mats which are now very rare to find intact in any commercial Mini Van or Pickup.
The photo below (found online) shows the original pattern rubber that was glued onto both front wheel arches, which only covered the bottom half as I also clearly remember in my brothers van.
However I'm not convinced the actual rubber floor mat shown in this photo is also original, it looks in too good condition and not quite right but few original rubber mats survived wear and tear or were upgraded to carpet back in the day. (As stated in another thread to be factory correct, the magic wand gear lever should poke through a hole/slot in the mat/carpet and the rubber gaiter and metal retainer ring should be below the rubber mat/carpet, not as shown in this photo!)

These from a 61 pickup.

If anyone has any of the rubber wheelarch half kick mats I'd be VERY interested in buying them or trading.

Thanks for posting, your photo confirms the factory original early rubber mats for Vans and Pickups had the same moulded pattern as the rubber wheelarch half kick mats.

Those seats are from a 75-77 850!

1963 - Interior photo was from here, like many early Minis the original seats were replaced at some point, but at least they were close to the original tan colour:-

And thats the thing thats been bugging me for ages, the colour!

Were they Tan or Autumn leaf thats the question.

For reference, here is what I have at the moment, seat webbing is all wrong though the covers were new at some point.

Door panels are painted and chip / flake very easy, as you can see there is a mixture of colours.

Changed it now, did it on the picture shrinking thing but I did not save it so it vanished after 20 mins.

A few more from a '64 van.

That looks very much as I remember my own early van many years ago. All the trim panels were plain millboard with no vinyl covering - exactly as those pictures above and all in that dark tan colour. No carpet. No underfelt Just the rubber mat and the short rubber wheel arch covers as pictured.
Mine didn't have a heater either and it was a bit chilly in the winter
