Does anyone have (or know of) under-floor pictures of an original Countryman with floor-start, please? Mine came to me as a shell with a new floor but without the under-floor clips, and I'd like to see how the various cable/pipe runs were originally installed and fastened. For example, I know some Minis had protective steel which ran the full length of the battery cable, but I suspect that would only be later cars?

Something like this where red is brake line, yellow is petrol line, blue is battery to starter switch and green is switch to starter.

You have to carefully route the brake and fuel lines around the steering rack plinth, making sure they don't chafe on the rubber bellows. The cable to the stater motor runs along the lower edge of the subframe.

Same car after paint. 3" tabs (with 3 fingers) welded to the third flute for the pipes.

2" x 1/2" tabs welded to the fourth (inside) flue for the cable, protected by rubber sleeves. This pictures has the metal channel for the cable between the 4th flute and the tunnel which you could replicate.

Anyone know: was there a year the battery cable protection channel was introduced, or was it standard from '59?

Definitely not from 59. Or indeed late 61 as my woody doesn't have one. Possibly as late as mk 2 or even mk 3.

Early 64 saloons have the metal channel for the cable, but it is slightly shorter than the hydro cars as it runs across the rear of the floor to go up above the rear subframe.

I assume yours will be the same?

Battery cable yet to be fitted but you can see the short channel and a clip on the rear floor (to the left). This is a Feb 64 saloon car.
