I will be looking to have some Britax 3-point harnesses made by FDTS as I have some original Britax buckle clasps I want to use (see photo). So I am looking for some photos of how the Britax harnesses would have looked over the years. Thanks!

Hi Jamie,
Found some examples for you, which hopefully help out and detail where length adjusters were placed, the different types of webbing and stitching patterns seen, and of course types of anchorages:
3-point race harness:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/156432119910
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/226230002484
3-point lap and diagonal:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/186638090601
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/176468763179
These are obviously taken from ended listings, so hopefully you can visit them okay and save any pictures that might be of use.
As far as I can tell, FDTS are the real deal and will put together some beautiful and authentic looking belts for you.
Check back in once you’ve had them made, I’m sure we’d all love to see them!
Cheers

Hello,
thanks for the reply and the links, they are helpful to have some ideas! I was struggling to find examples online as soon as I "Googled" Britax harnesses, never ending child car seats come up!
I have been speaking to Sue at FDTS over the past few days and have been getting ideas together. I have had some Kangol 3-point seatbelts refurbed by them last year and are great, however with the recent purchase of the aftermarket Microcell seats that have had good reviews I thought harnesses would be good. From the ideas we have been discussing, I will be probably going for some "hybrid" harnesses which have features from a variety of Britax harnesses that were available so they are unique to my mk1...Crossed fingers they will look good together!
Soon as the seats and harnesses are installed, I'll post some photos of the finished item!

Beat me to it sugar, but here are mine - unclipped at the side of the seat so that you can see the complete belt. The rear mounts are on the rear seat lower panel, coming out between the rear seat and seat back on mine.

Hi Andy,
Amazing pictures, what a wonderful setup you’ve got there!
Thanks so much for sharing. Definitely an inspiration.
Jamie, I’m sure yours will come up just wonderfully with those Microcell seats too.
I currently have the standard seats in a black/fleck combo that I chose (sorry to the purists in advance!) with Irvin CH/4 lap and diagonals just out of shot.
I’d sure love to switch the drivers seat for something a little more promiscuous
and get a harness installed too.
Look forward to seeing what materialises for you. I’m very interested in your hybrid idea!
Cheers,
Thomas

Thanks for the great photos Andy, they are very helpful. I have one question regarding the fixing for the back of the harness where it goes between the rear seat back and base. Are you able to send some details and photos how you have fitted the mounting points? Is it a case of a hole, spreader plate and loop bolt for the hook? Thanks!

Yes it is a loop bolted in with a spreader plate Jamie. I can't find any pics to hand but can take some for you.

Here you go. The original Britax spreader plates are quite small compared to the ones on ebay, and are held in plate by a nut and bolt. At one point in time the harnesses went to the rear parcel shelf, then we realised how weak that was, so they were moved to this location. You will see it under the boot board bracket and rh tank pipe, above the battery cable.
As you know the seat comes out easily, so they are really easy to unclip if required. Hope these pics help

A long time coming but some developments since the request for photos. I bit the bullet and purchased the Microcell Contour reproduction seats off eBay. Cost a pretty penny but my original mk1 Super Deluxe seats needed some work with the frames welding, new diaphragms and foam. Time I've factored the cost of these parts, some other bits and bobs along with myself going for a cafe racer theme and comfier seats, it was a no brainer to buy the ones off eBay.
Here are a couple of photos of them fitted.

Since they have been installed, the urge to get some harnesses made up was increased. After going through my ideas with Sue at FDTS, we came up with the hybrid version of the Britax belt which they have produced magnificently.

The harnesses consist of original Britax buckles and BMC stickers which I supplied after finding them for a great price on eBay on some tatty belts. Some pebble weave grey belt material was chosen with pull down straps and D-Rings attached for quick adjustability. I have stuck with the standard waist adjusters rather than pull straps so they don't get in the way or flap about down between the side of the seat and the bottom of the door. Now all I need to do is to get them fitted sometime after the new year!
I would highly recommend Sue and the team at FDTS for any seatbelt work, both original and custom. This is my second set of belts that have been sent to them and their customer service, product knowledge and quality is superb! -
