Mechanical Tacho - Who repairs them

Long shot here, and not mini related.
A friend has, and for good reasons he is pretty sure of it, an ex Tyrrell Smiths mechanical tacho.
Goes up to 12,000 rpm or something like that
It is in very good condition, sort of like never used condition, but it doesn't work. (which maybe why it is in such good nick)
Anybody know of a business, or a bloke in a shed, that are real experts at repairing these things ? ... anywhere in the world ?

Plenty of enquiries have been made here (here being NZ) without success
(for e.g. Robinsons Instruments in Auckland said they couldn't help)
My friend has many contacts in the motorsport industry, but that hasn't lead to anything either.

I've had good experiences with Howard Instruments in Melbourne. They must be pretty good, people send stuff to them from the UK. Roger Howard is a Mini man.

I haven't used them, but Lionel Otto Instruments in Brisbane have a good reputation too.
