I'm sure many of you will have seen the news that Stig Blomqvist is competing on this years Cambrian rally in a Mini which is great news for the sport and the event as a whole. I notice one of the partners is Mini Spares, would anyone know who at MS would have brokered the deal?

Here's the press release..

Pretty sure Ian Hunt put this together with Minispares as he mentioned it to me last year! With Phil Anning of course and Soderqvist Engineering who built it. They were all at Shelsley Classic back in the Summer.

A few pics .. 12” wheels next time I reckon as Stig did comment on the low ground clearance a few times!? Stages looked comparatively clean but deep mud in places. Brill event with several championships going down to the wire.

The gravel tyres were interesting as the tread pattern is high spec not a period pattern, managed to get some close up photos but all of the markings on the new ones at the service areas had all markings buffed off - these would be great loose surface tyres for 10" if ever made available

I think they’re made by Black Rocket in Finland, I think we’ve talked about them on here before.

January 2025 Miniworld magazine has an article on "The Cambrian Job" and the team effort behind it, which confirms Stig finished the rally 23rd overall, taking a class win. The Mini will be at the HRCR Open Day at BMM Gaydon in January and then hopefully on the rally track at Race Retro in February before the car heads back to Sweden. The special Finnish made gravel tyres were designed by Rauno Aaltonen.

January 2025 issue, (7-Port Pick-Up on front cover), "The Cambrian Job" pages 86-87, went on sale in December. Strangely there is no mention on the contents page, so maybe a late addition to the issue?
A very similar write up by Ian Hunt appears in the January 2025 MCR CooperWorld magazine, pages 36-37.
