Here in deep Cornwall I drive with my normal lights on all the time as the tourists see the lights long before the car, I also have a LED brake light in the back window which is an absolute must.
Even with the dynamo I don`t have issues with the battery running 55 watt bulbs but it is a red top Optima.

Hi,
I have a led pilot light in my sealed beams that I use during the day…. (It’s brighter than the bloody headlights!!)
I have led for rear and stop..so hardly any work for the dynamo…means the wipers go faster!

I have LED rear lights with a high level brake light, also the front side and indicators are LED ON MY ELF.
I'm sure as others have experienced, I've had numerous cars pulling out on me.
These main headlights in the link or LED bulbs in my current lights will hopefully help.

Arming yourself with LEDs and daytime running lights is a great improvement, but unfortunately it won't stop people pulling out on you. Standards of driving are so bad now pulling out on people is the norm. Driving a classic car is seen as even more of an invitation to pull out on you as they don't want to get stuck behind you.

So true, and even if you are a little over the speed limit they still have to get past you and then hold you up when you get out of the 30 limit.
Those LED pilot lights are an excellent idea, this is a great forum.

Our Aussie cars had clear lenses, and twin filament bulbs. Normally they were a white running light and white indicator (which is a bit confusing for modern traffic)
There are some LED bulbs called “switchback” bulbs which are pretty nifty. They have white and amber led bulbs and:
Parking lights on = white
Parking lights on and then turn on indicator = white light stops, amber flashes
Parking lights on and turning off indicator = amber flash stops and the white light comes back on
You can also get some which are a bit less white and a bit more yellow

I'm yet to use them but this company seems well reviewed. Warm white keeps them period looking as well...

These sound like a good idea. My Traveller, being a UK import, has amber lenses and single filament globes, but when I eventually get to my Morris J Type van, it will need to be retrofitted with indicators (it never had any). At the front I plan to modify the existing park lights with twin filament globes. It will have white lenses, so this style of LED is ideal.
