My continuing saga of whether to replace or repair continues. Today, I'm looking at the end section of the scuttle panel (image below).
What would you do here:
1. Weld in a scuttle repair panel?
2. Weld in the holes and linish flat?
3. Braze in the holes and linish flat?
4. Fill the holes using filler and sand flat?
5. Buy a modern car with no rust?
6. Something else

Choice number 1. Readily available but you might need to swage the recessed screen part a bit

How does it look looking up inside under the wing? Is the small closing panel below solid metal, rusted, repaired or replaced?
If you do weld in an end repair scuttle repair panel make sure to retain your early non-recessed windscreen surround area in that corner as the repair panels usually have the later recessed screen rubber flange as seen below (from post October 1960).

What's also odd is that the front end had been replaced by the guy I bought it from and the wings bore heritage stickers. And yet, the wheel arch edge appears to have had small panels welded in. Really odd.
Good point about the flange. M-Machine also do repair panels - I must ask them if they have the correct version for my car.

The welding does not look very neat! It is out of sight of course but you may wish to tidy it up or replace the closing panel completely especially if it makes repairing the top scuttle corner easier. You might be able to retain your non-recessed windscreen flange (it looks rust free) in that corner and cut the M-Machine repair panel down to suit, if they don't have the correct version.
