Hello everyone
Could someone please explain me how the horn works on a mk1?, I mean I get that the inside the wheel there is a metal terminal that needs to touch the back of the horn push but I'm having trouble to make it work permantly, sometimes it work sometimes not, the terminal has kind of a half ring attached to it, so I wonder if that ring needs to touch at the same time the top of horn push while the tip is touching the back of the horn push or why it's so seems to be so moody
Also, I have to change the orginal one to an aftermarket, but after a few tries the new horn seems broken, the sound is fuzzy as a faulty speaker.

The power wire comes up through the column and contacts via the sprung wire to the underside of the horn button
When you press the button down, the circuit is earthed by the plates in the horn button to the screw in the steering wheel, then to the steering wheel and then inner column. Then it’s through the steering rack and into the body

That isn't the power wire. That is the earth wire The horn itself has a permanent live supply and the horn push simply completes the earth.
The fault is likely to be within the slip ring which is attached to the column and sometimes doesn't provide a full contact all the way around.

As Tim says, the earth also relies on the steering column and rack too, so those need to be checked out as well

Everyone ought to read Aussie Tims and OE-Whites responses......, and then read them again! It's little understood that internally, the horn part is always LIVE, caused by the permanently live PURPLE wire feeding it. It's the purple and black wire (the black tracer indicates an earth return don't forget) that has to touch earth in the horn push. The problems are always (?) within the horn-push area
