I have posted this before but still need help.
I cant seem able to adjust my bonnet catch so it stays shut - On Sunday while out for a drive it popped open, stopped and closed bonnet.
On return home impossible to open the bonnet without first removing grill and doing some fiddling.
The release mechanism always seems to me to be not man enough for the job and seems to flex when operating.
Advise and again help please

Re: Mk 1 Bonnet Catch Adustment
There's a locknut on the top of the "spike" part of the locking mechanism (attached to the bonnet). Loosen it, wind out (lengthen) the spike.
Test ....... rinse and repeat until the latch engages fully while allowing a tiny bit of vertical movement to allow the latch to be opened easilly.
I assume you have the rubber stops on the bonnet slam panel?? With mine, the bonnet sits on these when fully latched and requires a small amount of load on the bonnet top to allow you to slide the latch open...
Cheers, Ian

Cheers Ian
I have checked back on all previous advice and with yours will go back to basics to set up catch ensuring the spike in central then adjust test and retest.
