Backward cam bearing - what’s the problem…?

I’ve got the front cam bearing in backwards. Car has done best part of 7000 miles, uses a fair bit of oil mostly through leaks I think but some through the valve guide seals.
I do have a plan to build another gearbox, pull the engine, fix the bearing, probably fit a different cam etc etc etc, but that’s a little way off.
I don’t suffer the same problem where the rocker box fills up in the way Graham’s one did (it’s a small bore with tappet chest covers, so if any flooding is going on, it’s taking place there..) so it leaves me wondering, what’s the problem?
Just being pragmatic and trying to avoid making work for myself..
Thoughts?
