Hi, I'm about to buy a Mounteney Steering Wheel for my Mk1 but it doesn't come with a Boss.
Is there any difference over the years on how the steering wheel fits the steering column or would a Boss advertised as Mk2 compatible fit?
Thanks in anticipation, G.

Re: Steering wheel fitting
Do not MkIIs have the horn incorporated in the turn signal switch, so a MkII boss would not have a horn button.

Re: Steering wheel fitting
I'm now looking at one that is described as..
Mountney Steering Wheel Boss Kit in Black Billet Suitable For Classic Mini 1977-95
Suitable for all Traditional Mountney steering wheels with 6 or 9 holes. The kits comes with Black and Silver securing screws for your own preference.
48 Splines, 18mm Bore
With horn push
12v Positive horn feed on the rear
I've measured my steering column and it is 48 splines and 3/4" diameter, my car is positive earth but I'm guessing the horn feed on the back of this boss would take a negative to my horn no problem?
Am I missing something or is it just these adverts don't consider the older minis as a viable market?

Re: Steering wheel fitting
For a Mk1 I’d try and get an Astrali 1A (or similar) boss kit. They have the provision for the mk1 horn button, and they also taper in towards the steering column
While the Mountney kit will work ok, you’ll need to wire the horn button into the wire out of the column and also the steering column shroud doesn’t line up as nicely

Re: Steering wheel fitting
I've just received an email update from the folks at MiniSport about steering wheel mounting, and although it is focused on the MPi cars, it may help someone doing a search:
