Paint codes...

My painter has modernised his paintsystem to modern eco-friendly waterbased paint... Problem is none of the old formulas work anymore...

So I'm trying a long shot here; does anyone have any modern recepies or paintcodes for Tartan Red and Old English White - pref. for Sikkens waterbased system... but I think almost anything will do.

Are there any modern cars/paints that match these colours well? (Guess they would be easier to get hold of recepies for)

Many thanks,

Maybe someone can confirm this, but I believe that MINI pepper white is the same as BMC Old English White. Having said that I've also heard it said that there were three versions of OEW.

Just order Pepper white for my steel wheel, Silken is the brand I choose, 2K paint they use for BMW Mini right from 2001 - 2010, no change, match the OEW 100%! Hope this help!

just had a look on two seperate systems spies hecker and lesonal

Neither offer waterbase basecoat in tartan red or old english white

But Spies hecker offer both colours in straight/solid high solids mix's

Lesonal offers tartan red but not old english white, lesonal is an arm of Sikkens

Nick,

Seems like I got things a bit wrong... my painter is using Spice Hecker not Sikkens..

Do you got any codes for the SH mixes you mention?

upon looking into it a little further it seems there are several options

Tartan read spies hecker code's rd9 or 490 or 33
Those three codes all relate to tartan red spanning years 58-69

Old english white years 63-68 comes under the code WT3
There are other old english whites listed newer versions etc one cross refers to pepper white as someone else mentioned.

In a nut shell old english white seems to be available in all spies hecker paint systems

Tartan red is not available in all systems it appears available in high solids and the newer waterborne system witch is called spies hecker hi-tech witch is the newest waterborne system on the market

there is a tartan red no1 and no2
no 1 was from 59 to early 68 when they started using the deeper "less pink" no 2 shade

i advise people buying 2k tartan red to get some color samples first.

the difference between the 2 is pretty visible
