Hello everyone,

I'm new in the mini world and I have in hands an 1965 Austin that I want to restore. It has some rust and it needs new panels.

I know that the floor is specific for MK1s, but I'm wondering if the boot floor, A panel and wings are also specific for the MK1 or different the the following models. I have a friend with some spare panels and I could use them if suitable. I haven't seen much online.

Thanks for your help!

Alex.

Hi Alex

There are lots of panel detail that are specific to MK1 minis and also the different years that the MK1 model spanned.

With the cost of restoring a shell these days, its worth buying the correct panels from a specialist like Minimachine http://preview.m-machine.co.uk/

If you phone them up, the ever helpful and knowledgeable Doreen will help you choose.....

Later boot floor and wings are interchangeable so will fit but some minor details will vary depending how concerned you are to be correct in every little detail, even if just different holes hidden by the headlights once fitted for example. As said M-Machine will often have a reproduced Mk1 panel available even if it is made using a later panel modified at an extra cost back to original Mk1 spec.
A Panels are however completely different as Mk1/2 doors are a different shape and have external hinges, compared to later Mk3 onwards doors which have a different shape and internal hinges.

It uses http and not https connection, which is why it comes up as not secure.

It seems the best way to get what you need from m machine is to call them directly, so that’d be a secure way to pay

The site is not unsafe, when you get in the site you just download a pdf of their catalogue, you cant buy online and phone them up.

The catalogue is a good guide as to what panels were used when

Does this help ?

Boot Floor - Common across all models, with only minor differences.

A Panels - Common across MK1 & MK2, MK3 on are completely different.

Wings - Common across all years & models, but very late ones have a hole for a side indicator.
