AGM batteries

Post by panda911 »

Good morning
I use an AGM battery on our regular car as it has hard suspension and the plates loose integrity
The car battery on our 64 Cooper S (with dynamator fitted), failed and will not charge up
Is there a form fit and function AGM replacement that I can buy.
BR and thanks for any info.

Respectfully, I really don't think you need an AGM Battery, though if that's what you really want, go for it. It's just money for nothing from my experience.

We just run standard lead acid auto batteries in our off road Mokes. They see way more vibration and pounding than any road or track car. The last one I got 6 years from.

Thank you for your opinion Spider.
I would still be very interested if anyone could or would give me the details
of a FFF replacement for my current non AGM battery.
Thanks

I use AGM Odssey batteries in just about everything. Road, Race, Rally cars, trucks, bikes etc.
Never had an issue and some of them cop a fair about of abuse.

The absolute best you can buy for many years have been Sonnenschein batteries. They have large military contracts and are very reliable.

Lead acid batteries are antiques these days, their are far better, well proven options. I certainly don't want to be putting a Sulphuric acid filled, hydrogen spewing antique into any of my restorations.
And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.

Thank you SPO41.
Would you happen to have a part number for the any of the AGM batteries.
I am trying to hide the fact that it is not a standard Cooper S battery.
Clearly only fooling myself. One or two of the changes like dynomator same thing.
Stick on heated rear window from Holden along with a Smiths label made in Aus.
Four speed sychro rather than three etc
Varta F21 AGM battery looks part for our other car.
Anyhow if you can help with a part number,
Thank you

I prefer to use these in Vans & Pickups as they allow full seat movement.
In the race car, it fits nicely under the passenger seat.
In a Moke they can be fitted into any of the storage compartments.
And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.

I'm using an Odyssey ODP-AGM34R (34R-790) battery and it fits great.
Check their website and their datasheet to make sure it's exactly what you want.
