Damper upgrade

Post by gs.davies »

When I slung my car back together last year I put the basic KYB shocks on it just to get it going.

As I may need to do some other work on the rear suspension it seems like a good time to consider changing these shocks for something a bit better.

The ride it a bit floaty at the moment and the car feels quite ‘soft’. Whilst I don’t want to rattle my teeth loose I wonder if there’s something better I could fit.

Any suggestions?

The KYB gas a just 552018 KYB Gas self adjusting are a very good damper, firm but won`t shake your teeth out too much, there are nine speed bumps where I live :(
There are some posh dampers out there like https://www.protechshocks.co.uk/classic ... r-package/
I use the KYB gas a just on my Cooper but standard on my daily and Spax adjustable on my screamer that gets very hard use but I probably would have given the Protech ones a go if they were around at the time.

How good are the springs Garry when you say they car was chucked together - dampers won't solve crap springs. I've found KYB to be pretty good, even on the rally car
