Hi everyone. I mounted a Speedwell Mini sport kit on my 1965 Morris Mini 850 Traveler. To clarify, this is the one with two left carburettors that I showed in the photo in a previous topic. Please can you tell me if I have to use two chokes or just one for the carburettors to work? Then If I have to mount two chokes where can I put the second one?
Many thanks, Max

I'm currently using a similar setup with two LH bowl HS2 carbs - I've only been using the choke on one of the carbs which has been absolutely fine for cold starting.

Hi !
Existed a twin speedwell cable back then, but they are rare to come. Anyway, you would need a extra opening of the choke hole to 1/2" hole if you had one of those twin cables. Better to use as per Tim, one single choke

Twin cables. Help is at hand, compliments of dopey son. Stunt bikes used by all the kids around here use a twin cable set-up for their weird front brake system. One cable into a plastic housing and twin cables exit it. Simple to convert or adapt to twin chokes. Available from the usual bike shops.
Twin l/h carbs!!!!!! Seems a daft way to go about things to me, being a non purist at the best of times

Twin LH carbs is what the tuning shops did in the early 60’s before the RH carb was available. My particular set was a dealer option from one of the local mini racers who was also a BMC dealer - Peter Manton
These days the most straightforward option would be a single HS4 but some of us don’t like straightforward

I’ve got the sports 850 type manifold on mine at the moment. It was available from two dealers as a DIY kit or as the complete car as the Sports 850
The DIY kit was similar to the early speedwell kits, where you got the manifold, linkage and one carb & the original carb was used on one side

Yes, Leyland used these on some cars that had emission controls. P/N AYA2248. I might even have one.
