Estate Rear Window Assembly Order

Post by atm92484 »

The car was in pieces when I received it and I've been trying to decipher how things are supposed to go back together - the rear windows fit the 14A7632 and 14A7633 channels nicely but I'm stumped on the assembly order. If I install the glass then the outer frame, I can't get to the nuts since they occupy the same space as the upper channel (location circled in photo). Am I supposed to notch the channel to create clearance for the nuts or do I need to shorten the channel so it and the glass can be installed after the outer frame is in place?

Is this a woody or all metal estate?

On an all metal estate, there are clips rivetted to those holes which the outer window frame clips over and in the bottom of the outer window frame are clips with studs on which fit through holes under the window channel. Front and rear have T-shape clips which have a screw or rivet through if I remember correctly.

I can't help on how a woody would go together as I've never owned one,

Thanks JR. This is an all metal body - exactly what I was looking for.

I used a clean rag and some joiners clamps to pull the outer frame into the main body. I also used nyloc nuts for the threaded fixings on the lower part of the frame.
