Well this is an unusual mod I have never seen before!

A new member (Codyyy) of The Mini Forum (TMF) based in the USA has recently bought what he was told is a 1963 Mini, see quote below:-

"Hello, I have recently purchased what is believed to be a 1963 Mini rolling chassis. I haven’t figured out much yet on this project. The rear drums stick out farther than the fronts and both sets of rims I’ve gotten don’t mount to the drums correctly. I’ve determined the rear drums are at least not from a Mini since they were drilled for the Mini bolt pattern and look nothing like original drums. My question is, based upon the below pictures, does anyone know what is for this car and what is not? The gentleman who sold me this had mentioned it may be a different subframe. At the moment I’m trying to get the wheels on correctly to roll it around and I’m not sure if I’ll just need hubs and drums or a complete rear subframe with arms. Thank you."

From the photos below it appears to have an ADO16 rear subframe converted from Hydrolastic to rubber cones....not sure why someone would go to all that trouble, other than to get the wider rear track width?

Iirc, 1100's for some markets used rubber cones. Might have been Saudi where the alcohol based 'green blood' was illegal. Or was a that a myth? I can't remember!

The rubber cone in the 1100 rear subframe photo does look bigger and a bit different to a Mini cone?
Any ADO16 experts on here who may know?

I know of at least one old ice racing car over here, that was converted to the ADO16 rear subframe for the wider track. Does not help in this instance, but more of historical evidence.

Thanks for taking the time to post this. I’ve since gotten more photos of this project. I’ll post them here and hope they’ll help me identify this car.
