Hello folks.
Would replacing original 1275gt (1300gt) flywheel for lightweight one give better performance without effecting driveabilty? Is the original flywheel weight for a good reason?
Would a lighter flywheel effect starting or possible over reving? Looking into changing to light weight flywheel to reduce 0 to 60 times ect.
Is it worth it without adverse effects.
Thanks Rob

Generally:
Heavy = smoother idle, slower to pick up rpm or slow down rpm. Easier to drive for normal drivers around town

Light = lumpier idle, quicker to pick up and drop rpm. In comparison it’ll be harder to pull off the line without stalling

I don’t think starting or over revving would be any different?

Switching to a light road flywheel from the standard Iron one will make very little noticeable difference. It will (very) marginally increase pickup, but not much, tbh, I doubt you would ever notice the change. Switching to a featherlight will make pickup better, but tickover worse, but isn't great for the road for lots of reasons.

Thanks guys that's pretty much what i thought. Researched on Internet with mixed results.
This forum brilliant for expert opinions. The original flywheel is staying.
