Well, after having had the first decent weekend for about 2 months, I was out and about using the Moke for what it was made for.
What were you doing this weekend?

Me, wife and the furries were on our only caravan holiday this year. Wednesday and Thursday, 4 occupied pitches on a site of 24.
Friday, only 4 empty pitches.
Friday night, monsoon! 2.30 AM Saturday, neighbours outside shouting at the dog.
Visited a couple of places I'd never been before, all this only an hour and a quarter from home.
I suspect the mainland is the same, but I live in Northern Ireland, and although it's not big I still haven't seen most of it!!
I raced bikes years ago and as you'd expect went to most of the road races all over Ireland, once we had the exact same conversation, we live here but know nothing about it. We had the brainwave of "let's tour Ireland on two strokes!"
I think one of us got divorced and it didn't happen.

Mended the door handle on the Hornetto so it now locks (it's never worked since we got the car back in 1993/4) as part of its pre-Revival preps.
Failed to fit glass mounted mirrors as the field of view was utterly insufficient.

We took the old rallycar to the place it likes least of all...a car show. At least we got it out and weren't doing yard work!

Happy to report it's been a good weekend for me. I've been working on the Marcos at my mate's place and been driving the Ogle for over 350 miles to get to and from there. Great drives and a great weekend of working on Saturday and Sunday with barbecues on both evenings!

We travelled north (250 miles) for the last Vintage race of the year.
The smoke from the wildfires was a tad better there....
Weird to wake up in the morning and see the vehicles and the race mini covered in ash from the fires....like living beside a volcano!
Had a great day at the revival....mini performed beautifully in spite of a nagging ignition problem in practice....fortunately, that was resolved quickly.
Too bad I was the only mini entered.....that meant scrapping with a lot of bigger and more powerful cars.
It made for some interesting battles in the corners.
The main race was event was an 'Australian Chase'...just like a handicap race....the little green beast took third...not too shabby

Overall, really enjoyed the event....can't wait for next season.

Hey, Spider Chris....... Will you put up that map showing exactly where you are on the photo, (above) in relation to the size of England/Europe. I don't think that many poms really appreciate the size of South Australia....., let alone Australia as a whole!

Car cleaning and prep on Sat, Sunday was the Cumbria Classic and Motorsport show at Dalemain, nice and local. Got sunburnt!! Hardly had time for a look round as time was spent catching up with people I'd not seen in a while, and meeting new acquaintances like Brian the man that made the outspan minis! and yes I had club members who had to google it to see what it looked like! made me feel old..

I took my 34 year old BMW out for a run.
Yes, that's 316,000 miles.

Not Mini related , I went to Lincoln Steam Rally with my restored 1950s Quasi-Arc welding plant , 400 amps , Fordson Major Diesel engine and it all works how it should

I did that a while ago as the rubbers are no longer available - looks like a great job
