Hi all,

As promised, it arrived today and did not at all disappoint. Excellent quality product, as to expect from Minispares (via the link Mark posted above).

Hope you can all enjoy this very reasonably priced item, which seems to fetch fairly steep prices on the usual auction sites…

Cheers, Thomas :D

I had a later light fitted to the Hornetto, which I swapped over to the earlier version - it's amazing how much better it looks for such a small detail change...

Great work. Are the Cooper S ones on their way?

I can look into them if there's demand, it's usually the diff side cover bushes wearing that cause leaks rather than the seals themselves.

I have known about these for a while :)

A great addition to the range. And to a great extent, driven by discussion on this very forum.

That is a great addition!

I was really hoping it was going to be 7” disc brake drive flanges. I know they would be costly, and probably not nearly enough demand to make worthwhile.

TIN TANK BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SINGLE LINE 0.75" BORE - GMC153
"The GMC153 is the early 0.75" BORE BRAKE MASTER originally used on 1959 minis to approx 1963 with single front wheel cylinder per wheel drum brakes and most 997 Cooper with booster valve and 7" disc brakes. Also fits Austin A40 Farina Mk2.
Originally the top of this master cylinder would have either a removable union top shaped like a nut, or a smaller hexagonal nut shape machined into it, unfortunately these parts are no longer available, therefore the only alternative was to have this copy made with the flat topped shape as this was the version that was made once the hexagonal nut type ceased production.
This looks much more period correct than the later cone shaped top versions, and of course is the correct bore size to suit the early brake systems. This cylinder also has the original size small base foot."

TIN TANK CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER FLAT TOP - AAU4969FLAT
"Flat top clutch master cylinder to suit PRE 65 minis.
Originally the top of this master cylinder would have had either a removable union or a small hexagonal nut shape machined into it, but neither of these options are available so the pipe goes directly into the flat top as per normal but the outlet is period correct.
The later master cylinders post late 1964 have a more pointed shape where the brake pipe comes out.
Ensure the correct DOT4 or DOT5.1 brake fluid is used as these cylinders are not designed to use anything else such as Castrol SRF for racing or any mineral fluid."

So reading the Minispares descriptions above - they will have a flat top but not the earlier Nut union/Hexagon shape top as seen on the reproductions below?

There is also this more period correct 3" tall Cooper S master available, details below:-

TIN TANK COOPER S BRAKE MASTER FLAT TOP - GMC172FLAT
Correct flat top brake master cylinder for pre 65 Cooper S.
"Originally the top of this master cylinder would have had either a removable union or a small hexagonal nut shape machined into it, but neither of these options are available so the pipe goes directly into the flat top as per normal but the outlet is period correct.
The later master cylinders have a more pointy shape where the brake pipe comes out.
3" high canister as opposed to std Mini 2.3/8""

Also upgraded are radius arm/upper arm seals, imported from Japan these should be much more durable and price remains the same.

Glad they are starting to introduce what hopefully will be a better quality seal. The current ones literally disintegrate while your car is being built
