Just bought theses:





Anyone know by packaging if 1960s or 70s? (my thoughts are 70s but wanted to be sure)

I can't tell size from the photo, but if those are bonnet badge inserts for the Mk II Austin Minis, I need one. When I was working on the S.A. Mk II Countryman Estate I did a lot of digging and only came up with two and they were only in OK shape. The best of the two was stolen off the car on the trip the Mini Meet in 2009 and the other one, now on the car, just doesn't look quite right.

A pic of the packaging would be more enlightening re date. But I suspect late 60's - 70's.

I checked my B & G brochures and found similar packed items.
The brochures are from late 60ies to early 70ies.

They turn up monday

Hi, could you tell me how old these are ?

The package say "MK I only" so I asume they are before 1968 ? or was there a special set for the MK II, with longer bolts ?

Wonder if they will fit a Morris ?

There ist just one verison of buttons in them, and descriped "for all Minis"

I believe Your buttons are from the same time.
Why should they mention "Mk I only", when the MK II has not appeared.

The other question is, was the MK I called MK I before the MK II appeared ??

Brown & Geeson were definitely still using that packaging on the gear knob emblems in the 80's & probably still in the early 90's- we used to stock them at Minispares London.
I shouldn't imagine that they are rare.

I agree that it sounds strange that they write "MK I only" but if you look in the White square box, at the top, it clearly say so.

I have noticed that grill button kits, for MK II & on, have much longer bolts, so if my set is from later 60ies, it would mean B&G made a kit for each model .

To your last question, regarding MK I / MK II , I dont know ?
maybe someone inhere has an old catalouge/brochure/manuel they can check ?

Reminds me of a story from Ted Connolly in Car Mechanics magazine a couple of years back, about the naming of cars in sequence he overheard in a pub...................

In respect of Jaguar however, this may not strictly be true........

In a similar vein the First World War was known as "The Great War", or "The War to end all Wars" (ironically) until of course the Second World War!

I just love the Mk1 argument as both the Capri and Escort names go back to the early 60's
and mid 50's so the 70's versions are really mk2's
