I've been running the larger size pulley for three years and although the engine runs normal tenp whilst moving , it gets hot when sat in traffic .
I fitted an aux fan to overcome this but i'm wonering if a smaller pulley wpould be the answer?

Also I think the pulley is a later A+ big one , so spins slower.

double whammy, pump turns slower so moves less water & fan moves less air, 1/2 way step is to fit a high efficiency water pump from someone like KAD

Or just run with waterless coolant. You ain't never going to boil it.....

I'm sure I have a small pulley in all my junk, better order a smaller belt first.

I had a four blade Metal Fan like the Works Cars on my 8 port but always run hot. Had a large pulley wich slows waterflow to give the Radiator more time to cool the water down. Also have a 4 Core Radiator and Evo Waterpump fitted.
Now with only changing the Fan to a 11 Blade Fan 12G2129
all my overheating problems are gone. Even when pushing hard, the temperature didn't go over 95'C

I always mix my colant with antifreeze and RO Water.

Something that also helps is that the Engine Block is very clean inside.
With a Rusty and dirty core you can use the best Radiator, Pump, Pulley, Fan Evans ect and will still have cooling issues...

Out of interest, any reason why RO water rather then distilled water ?

Whe have very hard water here and i think that if there's a possibility to avoid calcification in the engine you should do it...

not sure where else you can buy RO water in the UK, but you can get it here https://www.envirogengroup.com/2021/10/ ... -water-uk/, luckily a lot of the area where we live & work has soft water

Well this is the first time I've heard of RO water... I know some people use distilled or even rain water.
So I might just swap the fan for a modern plastic one. The water pump is high flow and the pulley is large A+ the rad is a Fletcher alloy one,
cheers all,,

Before tying one's self in knots looking for special waters, look in to you local town water supply. These days most cities and towns are fed from a Water Filtration System that have water quality outputs that way exceed any purity / hardness / Ph that come out of any bottling factory. It's in fact almost too pure for human consumption !

My old late mum, a retired GP used to tell us kids, if we ever mentioned bottled water, that if tap water was good enough for doctors and surgeons to wash and rinse their hand in, then it was good enough to drink!

Fitted small pulley and modern plastic fan.
All sorted no problems, tested on a very hot day / car show .
