Hi all.
So I am moving from the General chat, introduced my self and my car to this topic. I have started the rebuild and we will have to see how we progress.
After a lot of research, it seems that I can conclude that my car is a 1964 Mini 850. Although it also has a UK makersplate, it seems to be a South African mini.
The good thing about that is the fact that I don't have to compete with the rust you guys in the UK have to. I take my hat off to some of you for taking on the projects you do...
So as you can see, the car is dismantled, and as is always the case with getting a project like this there are a number of things that are missing. After a number of enquiries from the body shop the last big find was a neer perfect roof liner. ( only a stained) and another engine that i can can sell off.
So my plan is to restore it to its original state( or as close to that as i can) the 2 tone colour that it is painted is certainly not original, but it is professionally done so it will stay.
Removed and dismantled the front cradle and started cleaning up the parts. Will rebuild the front cradle and take it from there.
Well that is it for now. Will update this thread as we go along.

What a fantastic project!
As you already appreciate, finding a car to start on that is as good as yours is almost impossible in the UK. Do you know what colour it was originally? I am sure that some SA built Mini's had a very similar colour scheme to the one yours has.
Have you managed to get a copy of Rhino's book yet?
I look forward to watching your progress.

Hi Mark.
Thanks for the comments. Yes the original colour was Tweed Gray as the bottom of the car.
Attached is a picture of the seats, matching the colour as well.
I do have a copy of Rino's book. Very interesting read indeed.
