I've been on the look out for a couple of dynamo's (wish list on ebay) but after 6 months or so not one has turned up (plenty do from the 1960's 22700 is a common one) any left field thoughts as to where some might be located?

Ones that came with the cars 22700L dated 12-66, the other 22704A dated 5-60 must I assume have a different specification to 22742 - might anyone know what the end letter (L & A) represent?

not sure which one 13H551 is but it was obsolete before June/ July 64, then superceded by 13H826, both C40s, one with bolt on terminals & the other Lucar ?

The end letter is a Lucas revision code. On dynamos the end letter isn't important as such, it doesn't appear on the dynamo.

The 22742 only has different end brackets to a 22700, the internals and dynamo output are the same.

Please can anyone tell me if the lucas c40 22775 is correct for the 1275 cooper s 1968. It seems to have the reinforced mounting on the pulley end as the 22742

The 22742 is correct for the cooper s (as Simon says) joke there some where , as it is positive earth…..it will work negative earth though. I think your confusion maybe based on the 22775 officially (re Lucas) being the negative earth version of the 22742, not sure what its off originally though ?

According to info on summerford web site the lucas 22775 was fitted on the mini range but no info on which model
