As best I know, only when an Aussie Rack is fitted up.
If the Rack is ever removed without removing the Subframe completely, they are a fiddle to get back in, so often, they are left out.
Item 26, and going off the P/N, it is a unique Aussie part

Hmm another thing to track down for my AYA6001 steering rack swap. I don’t suppose you’d have some spares Spider?

I'll have a look how many I have, they are a bit thin on the ground as many cars I see no longer have them. If I don't have any, I think I have made a sketch.

I suspect that man of your obvious skill will easily be able to make a suitable spacer Tim
And while we're on the subject.......... Does the spacer shown by Spider replace the two spacers spot welded into the outside of the toe-board in the UK made body shells

I have to add a caveat to my earlier post.
The very early Aussie Racks had a shorter pinion and the housing was about 1/4 'shorter' where the Pinion goes in. These were around for less than a year. These didn't need those spacer plates.

Pete, if you are referring to the Reinforcing strip about 5/8" wide that has the 2 holes in it where the U Bolt passes through inside the cab on the toe board, then no, it doesn't replace that. Our cars had that right to the end of production.

is that a 69 to 76 Clubman ? if it is its a Mk3 Mini in reality, if you are using the rack FROM anything later than a Mk2 Mini you will need to change the steering arms to Mk2 type as they are different from a Mk1, the Cooper S arms are alse beefier / stronger in both Mk1 & 2 for racing / rallying.
