These two lamps are both winguard lamps. I bought them separately as NOS. They have some differences. One of the lenses clips on with a metal clip on the end, and the other lens clips in with the 4 tags. One base is slightly narrower and slight difference in the electrical connections. Has anyone come across this before?

I've never come across the metal clip type before. I've only ever seen the type with the four plastic tags that are part of the cover.
The earliest mini I've had was a a 1965 Wolsely Hornet and that was the plastic clip type. This is the same as on my current 1969 Cooper S. Is the metal clip type a very early version perhaps? Or maybe not for a Mini?

There are at least 3 different types of those lamps used. They would have been generic from Winguard for other uses. The extra connection would work if there was a switch in the system, maybe on a door or something

The metal clip has no electrical function. It just provides tension to hold the end of the plastic lens in place. It took me awhile to figure out what it did.
