Looking to buy a set of dollies to sit one of the Minis on, any recommendations? Smaller the better, most seem to be made for the bigger modern car.

Hello Dolly!
I bought a set of cheap dollies but I needed to use a jack to load the wheels on them and then found that the actual dolly wheels were too small to move the weight of the car around unless the surface was totally flat and smooth. If I was to purchase again I think i would pay more and go for the "wrap around" versions to cut out the jacking process. Especially if using regularly and not just for getting the cars in line in the storage facility!

I’ve got these. Work great on a 600kg Mini with 4.5” tyres and a 1200kg Vette with 12” rubber. I can move both single handed.

As above you have to jack the car on to them but they have the advantage over the “inbuilt jack” type that you can leave the car on there without risk to your tyres. My garage floor is pretty smooth but they do have largish metal wheels

They were the ones I could not get on with.

If you buy the ratchet lift type skates, (not hydraulic) you can easily modify them to close up smaller for 10" wheels.
Much easier than using a jack each time.
You can probably do the same with the hydralic ones but you have to play about with the cylinder postion.

That’s my problem with them. I’m really tight on space and don’t want them to stick out hence why I’m getting rid of the jacks. Only a two minute job to jack a car anyway and only really need to use the dollies over winter so just looking around for something smaller.

i have both types.
I like the go jack style for lowered cars that make getting a jack under a pain, i'd recommend getting the frame to stand them on when not in use, the wheel dollie ones have a smaller footprint, hold the car up higher but now you do have to faff jacking the car up.
They all do depend on you having a nice flat floor to move around on though but the joy of spinning a car about on the spot and pushing them up sideways to each other to make a bit more space cannot be underestimated!

I had some of the hydraulic pump up ones, but they tended to squeeze the 10” tyres instead of lifting them, so I had to jack it up anyway
The rollers also cracked after leaving the mini on them for a few weeks, so they are probably best to have the load removed for long periods
I bought some of the simple dished dollies and they've worked great. They can also be pushed inwards till the sidewall of the tyre is flush, so they don’t stick out like the other type

Well these were just perfect for the job, next day delivery, well priced, pushing a Mini around the garage is now a doddle (on concrete). Thanks Tim.
