help needed

hey guys after taking out my petrol tank there was a bolt in the bottom of the tank which i suspect wasnt meant to be there..
there is a screw thread of brass which i suspect the stoppper should also have been of brass similar to the bleed screw of the radiator is this so little help guys i could look at my haynes if i had one waiting for it to come through post........... good old posty always on time NOT so where to get one lazza in aus

Is it an early tank with the bolted in sender?

hey ivor yes its a 1962 mini i think its the origional fuel tank this hole was like it was for bleeding the tank of all fule there is an area which is hihger up which has a circle of around 3 inches in diametre which i would say was the sender unit or fule gauge

Sounds like the drain for the fuel tank fitted to early minis. Usually rusted up by the time one came to use it and the drain pipe made it really hard to remove the tank, which will be why the pipe is missing.
