10" Knobbly Tyres

Looking for a supplier of knobbly tyres for the Moke. It currently has a set of old remould Knobblies fitted that are fine, but a couple are getting a but thin.
Does anyone know of any "cheapish" knobblies in 145/70-10 ?
I don't really want to spend a grand on weathermaster SP44's.

Did Colway go out of business? They used to be the affordable gravel tyres, didn't they?

They did, that is go bust & used to do a good 10" knobbly. They have been resurrected (in Poland), but don't seem to do any 10" tyres at all now. I guess the carcases are too difficult to find / not enough demand.

Google tells me there's a MaxSport Hakka in 145/80 R10.
retailing around 100 pound a corner.
https://www.jdmotorsporttyres.co.uk/tyr ... rass-tyre/ No idea if they're road legal mind.

How about Maxsport Hakkas? 145x10 is £108 from Demon Tweeks. No stock at present but apparently due in soon.
I'm not sure how to post the link properly, but a quick google will get yo there.

Yes, The Hakka is the only one I can find too.
Was hoping for something a little more traditional looking. But it looks like that's the last man standing, apart from the Weathermasters.

I had a go on finding some M&S tyres too. I tried to find and contact some of the former re-treaders (in Austria and Germany) who in the past remoulded 10" knobblies. No luck so far.

Hum, That was pretty much the conclusion I have come to.
I guess I'll be buying SP44's over the next 12 months

I keep trawling the local classifieds for old Mini rims with snow tyres fitted. My plan is to then soften them again with tyre softener from

I have a few decent Goodyear Ultragrips in 165/70-10 Can dig them out if of interest.

No stocks of SP44's anywhere. Maybe expecting a new batch in the "next month or two".

My experience of the hakka was they were not exactly very round, but great in the wet and loose

That's what I had heard Gordon, Great for grass tracking & general mud plugging, but not a tyre for the road.

There are the Black Rocket ones from Finland:

Didn't Brynmor say he was hoping to import some? Not sure if there are any good options for getting them in the UK otherwise?

The SP 44 is made by Avon and they are not making any more, as the factory is not cost effective. Also they make most of the re made 10 inch tyres on the market, as well as the Avon race rally tyres, none of these are being made so I'm told.

Vintage tyres prices are breath taking, but they do have them:

They list them, but don't have them. Same with Longstone.
I am currently exploring other options.

I've asked my pal who is a tyre dealer / fitter to ask his various suppliers, just on the off chance.

I got this sorted. I managed to get a set of NOS 145 x 10 Kingpin remoulds that are the same pattern as the old Dunlop Monte tyres.
I believe that Longstone now have stock of the very expensive SP44's too.
