Burt lasted to a ripe old age & was working up until the last couple of years.

For me, his music was the true "Sound of the 60's" I doubt there isn't anyone who doesn't love at least one of this amazingly talented man's back catalogue.

“Very sad day, probably one of the most influential songwriters of our time. He was a great inspiration . Rest in peace Burt Bacharach,”
The Kinks’ Dave Davies

'Walk On By' and 'Do You Know The Way To San Hose' are two of the greatest songs ever written, the lyrics and melodies are just perfect.

RIP 'Burt Bachache' as Eric Moracombe used to call him!

He could also pick the right artists to sing them - Dionne Warwick was just perfect.

Dont make em like that anymore .. all his catalog are true classics that will last forever .. unlike the stuff that is on offer today .. now that i have started why did the BBC manage to destroy Radio 2 or maybe its just me getting Old

If you remember at one time Radio 2 featured Jimmy Young playing music for old farts, then it was OK for a few years, then it was good and now they are playing too much modern crap. . . . . .

Sadly I think it's the case that we are all getting old. It is however, better than the only alternative :)

No Steve Wright anymore and Ken's going from the morning slot shortly - I'm going to have to find another radio station to listen to I think :?
At least Johnnie Walker is still on occasionally to keep us sane
Otherwise it has just turned into "Radio Bland" hasn't it.

Radio 6 is still okay and Greatest Hits is very good.

Radio 1 was best in the late eighties with DLT (Pub Quiz/Think Link) and Alan Freeman (pick of the pops). Not 'arf!

    Thought it was only me…..god, he is such an annoying bloke, does anyone enjoy listening to him?
Soon as he comes on, turn radio straight off…..Even radio 4 is not good at that time of day.

Greatest hits is a pretty good alternative, Simon Mayo on drive time,Paul Gamabaccini, soon to get Ken….

Radio 1 in its heyday was about happiness and fun . Remember the radio 1 roadshow’s around the country. Did anyone listen to Jeremy vine when he asked anyone who had lost a limb to phone in . He wanted to find out if it was just as traumatic to have lost a limb through diabetes or a accident . No wonder our millennial youth are so f-Ked up in the head .

Ken for Pop Master mid morning, wonder if he's taking it with him?
Robert Elms good on Radio London the rest of morning.
6 Music after the monotone drone of Mary Ann Hobbs has finished.
