I spotted this earlier on instagram and the first thing that struck me was the downward angle of the intakes, done presumably to fit within the bonnet line. I'm so used so seeing throttle bodies either parallel or with a slight upward sweep but these reminded me of something else I'd seen before, and sure enough searching through some old pics found Jeff Goodliff's hillclimb car which had a similar downward curved set-up, albeit a longer induction system.
It will be very interesting to see what results Chris gets with this new system, I wonder whether it might do well with longer ram pipes.

Geoff's set up was very different to that. It used a Weslake head & the injectors did point down into the inlet tract / chamber, but the car was Supercharged & the inlet pipes lead down to a big old plenum that collected the puff from the great big Marshall blower underneath.

That's a great pic Mark, thanks for posting it up. You can really get a good sense of the blower and as you say the intake plenum, I've never seen a pic from that sort of angle before.
I've been studying some other pics and it looks like Jeff had the fuel coming into the bottom of the throttle bodies rather than the top on the Crafted Classics set up, for some reason Jeff's placement makes more sense to me for getting fuel to enter the head as the air comes up from the downward trajectory of the intake.

Didn't one of the Works Cooper S with crossflow head around the time of the cancelled 1967 RAC Rally (foot and mouth) have four big breather tubes slanting downwards at the front? Can't find a pic atm.

As I commented on FB its a neat solution. The slide throttle setup was done recently by Specialist components and i commented on the apparent lack of access to the plugs but got told it wasn't an issue. ( see also 'anyone with the SC billet 7 port head and webers...') That slide setup sat flat
Roll on the back end of last year and there was the SC slide setup for sale. I talked to the guy that ran it, It made really good power but was a nightmare for maintenance at the track as you couldnt get at the spark plugs.
The setup shown above looks to eliminate that issue but I'd wait and see how the fuel rail clears the bonnet line first! It could be the injector pocket and thus fuel rail is far enough towards the head face to fit but i cant say for certain.

The metal inlet tubes on the Works 8 port are just the inlets found on the 1300 and 1100 single carb airfilter boxes

The only acceptable injections for this setup don't have a fuel rail.

I'll stick with my jenveys and single plenum setup thanks

Each to their own

And I keep dreaming of a Lucas Mk1 with a stepper motor attached that transfers a map onto the Lucas metering unit

The Arden was raced in period with a slide throttle that fitted under a mini bonnet. One was for sale in germany a few years ago . It originated from Wooding in Hamburg
