Wiper motor to body mountings

How do these go? Do the rubber bushing go through the hole in the bulkhead? Or does it sit on the engine bay side? Also where do the washer go? Any diagrams or pics of a correct installation gratefully received.

Thanks
Gary

If I remember the older wiper motor fixing. The collared bushes get squeezed into the bulkhead holes. The washers go on the INSIDE, between the bush and the shouldered bolts - that screw into and retain the motor. Hope that I'm not thinking of something else.......

That’s going to be fun, persuading those rubber bushes to get into the hole. And it seems that one of the set of three is missing the washers, straight out of the packet.. How many washers per bush should there be?

I struggled for ages with these damn things. Tried soapy water, silicone grease. In the end I cut them in half and placed them either side of the hole and pushed the bolt through the middle.
I have seen a youtube video of Matt Green actually fitting these successfully.

I did the same, no amount of lube was going to help😆

Thanks I’ll check Matt’s video out. Cutting them in half sounds like a plan though

I got mine in part way and twisted them in with the help of a lolly stick. Some years back I helped someone and they cut an angled slit in the inner most raised section and got it started that way - by screwing it in effectively. As ever, I think the earlier rubbers were softer and more flexible.

The repro ones are crap and impossible to get in as they are too hard.

Genuine ones are much more pliable and go through the holes much easier.

Trouble getting them in the hole....... try a good dollop of KY gel. Sorry about the connotations chaps, but that's what I use when I.......... anyway, that's the way to go!

Tried all sorts of lube Peter but the repro ones are just too hard and will not flex enough to push through. Luckily I had a few spare originals .

Maybe soften them by putting them into hot water first?!
