LBL 6D navigator dash panel

Hi everyone. I wonder if anyone has been able to snap a close-up photo of the navigator dash panel at Gaydon of LBL 6D? Specifically above the area where the Heuer clocks were fitted? A glare shield was originally fitted and I believe secured with two additional screws through the upper dash shelf. It’s evidence and the location of these holes I’m chasing, so a clear close-up photo would be ideal.
Thanks in advance Selb

This was taken in the 90s, I can't see any fastners for the anti glare hood though?

Hi guys. Thanks for your photos snd replies. Nice work on the EJB ? (Or sister car) dash. Looks great!. The photo of the 6D panel was what I was chasing but perhaps the angle is taken from a bit high. I tried to upload a couple of photos which seemed to support my two screw theory but they were much too big to be accepted. Not sure if I’m doing things wrong but a 512kb file size limit seems too small for this exercise. (You have to squint even with the clearer shots!). It may be that the central dash screw was all that was used to secure it and I’m looking at chips in the paint however each hole seem at a uniform width just inside the two upper P lights at an even spacing, and a period photo I have seems to show screw heads in corroborating locations albeit blurry.
The mystery continues. Thanks again
PS Any hints on photo attaching warmly welcomed. I’m hopeless

512k is plenty for large clear images.

There is a primer on here about posting pictures.

If it had one it must have been smaller than on the Monte cars

Hi all. Thanks for the replies and advice. Sorry about the delay-time-zone issues. Matk, the photo you posted is the one I was referring to re the two dots which I propose were holes. This photo of 6D was taken after the event has been resized (hoorah) and shows the glare shield, the fixings are the question. Cheers

If there are no obvious holes, could they have just slid it between the dash panel and the top rail ??

On the event the cars used black anodised steering wheels the picture you refer to and the wheel fitted now to 6D are not original fitments to the car. :?

Hi Ronnie. I’m aware of the incorrect wheel fitted to the photo I posted that’s why I pointed out it was taken after the event. Here’s one taken on the rally which also shows the glare shield but not as clearly. (Pic was featured Robert’s Works Minis in Detail book). It may well have been fitted by slipping it behind the dash panel and secured by the single screw as suggested. One of the reasons I raised the prospect of the two screw theory was that I thought I could see the two screw heads in my clearer pic and suspicious dots on the photo provided my mark earlier which seemed to correspond. It’s a bit of a storm in a teacup but having seen other close ups of the dash panel I’m doubting my theory. Thanks everyone

Hi chaps. At the risk of labouring the point, I’ve isolated some of the earlier photo which seems to suggest the shield is fitted with a flush section (a fold in the shield) and sits in front of the dash panel?

You would have thought there would be some sort of trace of it being screwed in place, but take in to account that it would have been very light construction, as they wouldn't want to hit it in an accident, so my guess would be it was thin plastic/perspex. Maybe it just slotted in between the dash and had a return peice added which sat against the dash to hold it up maybe...

Shame that pic is so small, but when you lighten it up you can see the edges a little clearer - fixed with two screws to the nav panel I think?

Edit to say I think that is the Halda top you can see, so maybe back to the squeezed between the panel and dash rail after all?
;-)

Hi Andy. Nice work lightening the photo. I think it clears it up nicely. Re the P lights. They’re definitely still fitted as per the previous photos snd how the car is today. It’s been an interesting discussion.

Your original picture (any idea where it was taken?) there are no clocks, Andy's blow up shows the shield creating a tangent with the radius on the scuttle which is where the dash panel is bolted, I was going to suggest that it could be held on with a tab behind the clocks, until I rechecked your original picture, it must use the captive nuts for the clocks :?:  :?

LBL66D Nav dash is fixed with 4 upper screws which would make sense to mount the shield, where the Gaydon 6D has 3 fixing screws.
