August 1960 Austin Seven Mini

Does anyone know if the aluminium panels in my mini were factory fitted or aftermarket additions?
One is below the doors and the others on the cross member.

Yes factory I believe. My Traveller has them.

I agree, these feature in some early cars, but were certainly deleted by 1964.

No doubt someone will know the exact date.

Yes factory fit. My May '63 built SDL had them.

My friends 62 has the box section alloy trims... His great grandmother bought it new, and hasn't been modified.

I chopped up a rotten 1965 Island blue Austin that had them, but lots don't.

Is it a Longbridge/Cowley thing?

I restored a 1962 Morris Traveller and he had them too
