RAC Rally 1965

Post by mk1 »

1965 was a very special year in the world of Rallying.

The BMC Team made up mainly of "World Beating" Mini Cooper S's was winning events all over the world, but one rally that proved more illusive than most was the teams home event the RAC Rally. This was won by a Works Mini just once. In 1965 a Cooper S driven by Rauno Aaltonen & Tony Ambrose.

Now here's your chance to own a part of that Historic Rally Victory.

Thanks to the generosity of Peter Sissons, one of our fellow forum members, I am able to offer a very special trophy awarded to Tony Ambrose after this historic win in 1965.

This fully hallmarked solid silver cigarette case measuring 170 x 100 x 50mm was awarded to Tony Ambrose & was displayed proudly in his home for many years after the event.

Along with the award is an original copy of the program for the event & a provenance from Tony’s daughter Carolyn where she gives some information about this award.

This amazing, genuinely unique prize package will be won by someone who buys a ticket in our Charity Fund Raiser, all the details of which can be found by following the link below.

Bought some tickets yesterday, so plan on winning this!

Gives me chills just to think about it's genuine history - might take up smoking just so I can use it! (when I win it, of course)

:D
