Ok. I’m defeated. How the f’ing hell does that go back together with an S spec mount, shorrock mount and pulleys and an inner wing shroud.

If that was me Doc, knowing that your car is good but it's not concourse, I'd do what I I did to mine. End all of the hassle and get rid of the rad shroud. It serves absolutely no useful purpose whatsoever. End of that side accessibility problems forever

I wonder if taking the engine mount off and jacking it a touch might open up some room? I can’t see how you can fit the rad into the shroud in the car for the bottom back bolt.
And I can’t see how you can get the bolts in for the fan with the Rad in.
Yet the rad and shroud won’t go past the fan !??

There was an 'interesting' discussion on this last summer.

No Shorrock fitment involved though.
Oops, just noticed you contributed on that thread.

Ok- cheers S type - life lesson here don’t leave it bits longer than you can remember how it came apart
Fitting this shorrock has a been rather closer to the experience of playing twister with a pig than my expectations of a bolt on kit. It’s a bloody tight fit!

It is possible to fit the fan in-situ, I've had mine out a few times due to radiator damage. you will lose all the skin on the back of your hand though.
I will take a look at the curent deplyment on mine,is a bit of a bitsa and I am not sure what bottom rad bracket I currently have.
Is this a single or twin pulley installation?

It’s a twin pulley set up. I’m hoping that leaving it overnight will have provided new inspiration for getting it in!

While you're faffing about at the rad and fan end Doc, can you tell me about the bracket-to-cowl bolts 11G 228 x2 top and 2 bottom. Are they 9/16" AF's stepped down to 3/8 thread? How long overall?
Anyone...?

Ok the shroud bolt is 1” e2e
3/8 shank at about 27/64
Then 3/8 at what looks about 5/16 unf.
The bastard dowty Autofan fan catches the shroud base.

Looks like the repro S rad mount just pulls it a touch high, maybe 1/8 - 1/4 or so

I had the same problem with the Minispares repro S-type mounts.
I think the actual problem is with the repro 12A361 bracket being slightly longer than original, but that’s hard to fix without cutting off the captured nuts and re-welding the end plate. Easier fix is to just put the angled 12A293 bracket in a vise and use mole grips and a big hammer to re-bend the first two curves to tighten up their angles a bit... it doesn’t take much to drop it 1/8” to get the fan to clear.
I guess you could also oval the upper holes with a rat-tail file but you may have to grind a bit off the outer edge too, as it will butt up against the bottom of the radiator.

Cheers Ian, that’s what ive just done to it, as well as clearancing the top section by the idler pulley.
It’s all necessary but slightly heartbreaking when you end the day less built up than at the beginning
