So, I've come to the fitting of the pre shaped hydro pipes which I collected from m-machine.........the RH side one doesn't fit. The back fits under and around the rear subframe but the front end is all twisted and pointing to outer space. So disappointed with these. Rather than try and straighten/re bend the RH one and risk crimping a corner I was thinking of using a John Guess Speedfit equal connector after cutting the little rascal and rotating it a little. I see that the 2 piece pipe from Bullmotif includes a similar speedfit connector. Has anyone tried this with Kunifer pipe? Was it a success?

When I fitted repro hydro pipes, I cable tied them together adjusting them to match the original profile, I managed to do it without any kinks. I wouldn't really want to put a joint in a new pipe.

If it is any help I’ve not fitted my NOS set of pipes to our 66 yet, so you would be welcome to pop up the road and have a nose?

Before you start any bending Whistler, please contact me. I've got a pipe bender just made for hydro pipes. And used together with Nick W's idea, it'll work a treat. Regards, Peter

Thanks for that Nick. The old pipes fell off during shell stripping so no pattern but your link is very helpful.

Where are you?

It's the lower pipe. It needs rotating (twisting) and the bend to go up the bulkhead straightened and re bent. All without kinking.

The trick is to manipulate it , but not on the existing sharp bends. Just spread the bends in to the straight area, bit at a time, should be able to get it near enough.
They will never be perfect, but when it's all built up they usually look fine.

It's OK Andypen. I've spoken to Peter and Nick has given some good advice so I'm having a go at 'manipulation' to modify the bad pipe.

I had to massage the pipes into shape as well, not as bad as your one but doing as Nick suggests, you will get there.
Remember that the pipe will work harden so bends are more difficult to further bend than straight sections.

Yep Whistler, my '64 car came from there

Fitted a complete set of hydrolastic pipes some years ago, cannot remember that they caused me any problem however I have since successfully used the soft copper pipe kit to repair/bypass leaks behind the rear subframe.

I did not like the look of or feel I could trust the plastic push fit connectors and suspect that they were for 8mm tube. Original pipes were 5/16" (7.93mm) and therefore opted for correct size 5/16" quality brass compression fittings from Wade. These fitted without any problem and have been trouble free since

Andrew wrote enough in his original post to cover it.

I have fitted 2 sets of these in fairly recent times. Both sets had "their issues". The first time I cut the end & shortened them by about 3" to make them fit in thge area you are having issues with. It was perfectly successful, all be it a bit of a faff.

Second time I had spoken to Nick who described how he "manipulated" them to make them fit & this was very successful. Not a quick job, but one well done.

Thanks to all. I have 'manipulated' the front end with the help of a Lidls 10mm bender and a useful bit of 2 x 1. All good now, at least until I can flip the shell the right way up and sort out the connections to the bulkhead plates. That's for another day.

Has anyone gone back to M-Machine to tell them their product doesn't fit?
