qualifying was good to watch apart from the inability of the commentators do do any research as to why Nicks latest willow has the paintjob it has!!! and not being able to recognise the difference between jordan and swift while driving

Minor irritants but annoying all the same.

Yes the commentary was rubbish. Lots of wrong driver names (don’t they have an entry list!?)

Alex Buncombe was impressive, really did pull it out the bag on that last lap sticking Edgecombe’s car on the front row.
I was amazed how many cars broke after a few laps in qualy! They’re supposed to last a full 45 minute race!

Yes one 45 minute two driver race today. The Matt Neal/ Jeff Smith car is a strong contender aswell as Edgecombe/Buncombe and Endaf. It’ll very much depend who’s car can last 45 minutes!

What engines are they running?

The commentators mentioned 30 cars and 30 litres total grid capacity- or are they just showing their lack of Mini knowledge? Surely not a grid of 970s or 997s?

Ignore the commentators…
Most entrants were running Swiftune built race engines, based on the 1275 block.

He mentioned the cars run with 1 litre engines. Oh well, as long as we know better ;)
The race was enjoyable to watch.

Thought as much! Would be an expensive exercise for one race!

I heard that as well. Quite surprised at the time as I thought the commentators were "regulars" at most historic events but obviously do not have crib notes like the MAIN man!
Surely Swiftune with multiple engines on the grid had provided basic specs of their engines.
1963 Mini Cooper S = xxxx cc +? & H4s
1964 1275cc engine introduced?

Minis go to battle | John Whitmore Trophy 2021 full race | Goodwood Revival.
"Forty five minutes, two drivers, 30 Minis. These are the ingredients for the Goodwood Revival's John Whitmore Trophy presented by Sure, a magnificent celebration of the history of the Mini Cooper, played out at full throttle. The cars looked amazing, the drivers list easily matched it. Martin Brundle, Alex Brundle, Darren Turner, Jean-Eric Vergne, Neel Jani, Andre Lotterer, Andy Priualx Romain Dumas and more jumped into the tiny machines to fight it out for glory."
