Though not using one myself, the 'RallyeMaster' in one of its layouts might be a reasonably priced option. They are available with different kinds of displays to match the period of your car.

Certainly in the UK the Brantz International 2 Pro is by far the most commonly used one.
There are other options, but they're either much more expensive or offer little over the Brantz. Obviously it does come down to personal preferences, but most navigators know the Brantz and can use it.

Be sure to check the rules if electronic Tripmasters are allowed, I seem to recall a few years ago some events didn't allow them, that said most rally cars I encounter use the Brantz or a TerraTrip. The old Haldas are nice but cost an arm and a leg. I've seen Twinmasters for sale at 1500 euros, and Tripmasters for not a great deal less. Speedpilots are a touch cheaper and a handy tool for average speed, I don't know why they aren't so popular.

What about a Terratrip 2 from Demon Tweeks, bit dear at £199 but it works. You will need a gubbins to fit on your speedo cable and a pre-warning: you need to feed it directly from the battery and use megadyne plug leads.(I think that's the brand name, could be wrong)

Ok thanks for the info !!
Yes Halda is not cheap .... but not every tripmaster is welcome in historic events.
