Swiftune Billet Oil Filter Mount

G'day

Have had a Swiftune billet oil filter mounting in cupboard for some years. After an accident I am now looking at using. I am having great difficulty in getting a union for the hose connection. The current web site suggests it is a 1/2" BSP but this doesn't fit. Close but not a fit. A 12mm plumbing connection thread almost fits. The pitch appears to be 18.

Tried to phone but missed closing time on Friday and matter is urgent.

Any help, directions or information is most welcome.

Cheers.

I don't know what you've got but could it be a taper thread that's meant to be tight - or more accurately, tighten-up to ensure fluid security. Check with a set of calipers

Thanks but not a taper. Almost seems a large UNF but seems strange. Wondering if Swiftune changed thread over the years. Mine is probably 5 years old.

To get any sort of answer you'll have to screw a piece of wooden dowel into the hole to give yourself - and us - an idea. Then show the photo of the 'threaded' dowel against a steel rule. That way at least we;ll have an idea of TPI and dia.

Possibly the same as standard oil filter heads - either 1/4" NPT or 11/16" UNF.

Graeme I dont think it will be 1/4 it could be 5/8 unf 16 tpi which is a straight thread.
BMC used parallel threads on the block as the connection was via a banjo bolt. But as a hydraulic thread in flow term banjo bolts are sub optimum. Normally you would use a NPT TO AN (JIC 37 deg) or a tapered bsp to a bsp hydraulic but BMC didnt.
11/16 16tpi is bloody obscure so fittings to say 1/2 BSP (Mocal oil cooler) or AN(JIC) Setrab are very obscure minispares etc. I have often thought if you want something off the shelf perhaps converting 11/16 to M18 hydraulic may make life easy as M18 to 1/2 BSP are off the shelf at most hydraulic shops?

G’day from Perth Western Australia

The answer was in front of me if I looked. The same thread as the oil pipe to block connection, 5/8” UNF. I over complicated things and should have tried that adaptor rather than metric, BSP, Dash etc.

Thanks Guys.
