Chrome catch - disassembly / pin wear

Hello, I have been trying to complete my set of catches, I recently acquired the one photographed without the fixings but am concerned about the pin.
The pin is retracted and is the "fixed" type (i.e. cannot dismantle). I am reluctant to pull the mechanism out as then I cannot return it. Is it likely that removal and greasing would fix the issue, or do they wear and then require replacement?
Thank you

This has been featured MANY times on this forum. Perhaps you could search and all will be answered to save duplication. But as I recall,, they CAN be stripped, made good and reassembled using a newly made part

Grab the pin with some pliers and pull down and the retaining washer will come out. I've found if the end of the pin breaks a bit off off they won't lock very well.

Thanks for your responses, I appreciate that it has been covered, I did search and found the thread which said to pull it down and the washer assembly will come out, but if doing so is likely to be unsuccessful, then I cannot return it as I would have dismantled it, hence I queried what the likelihood of success would be.
If I have to make up a new pin etc, I will just return it, it was sold as working and operational and was not a bargain price (which would have justified repair)
Does anyone have photographs of the internals of one? I cannot fine an exploded view of one as it were.
