Another issue - banjo switch post too long?

I am having fun with sorting out my front subframe brake lines here, now when I bolt in the the banjo switch post it doesn't go into the flexi pipe thread far enough!!! It bottoms out so the copper washers cannot be tightened up!!

Could I have been supplied the wrong brake pipes? They are the disc variant as this is an S.

Did I read somewhere that others have had this problem before and had to shorten the banjo post for the switch??? It does match the original length so what's going on here??? gggrrr

Check the depth of thread on the other hose in some braided kits they are different

I’m sure I said to check thread depths?
You may have to cut a couple of threads off..

Thanks, but these ones are rubber not braided???

They came from Somerford, so do I need to get another set from somewhere??

That one just doesnt look right, have you tried one from another source ?
You can pack the washers, put two below, not just one. I will look in my cave, I think I have an original one. R

Might sound daft, but how thick are the copper washers that you are using .. although, just looked again and that one seems thick enough.

Shouldn't make any difference what type of brakes they are intended for as the fittings for the switch etc are all the same. Of course,it could be a depth of thread issue in the hose end which is nothing short of piss poor.

The washers look the same as my old ones Andrew, and the banjo pin is identical as far as I can see. I may have the old cut offs of the brake pipes somewhere, they seem to be the culprit.

Hope I'm not seeing this differently to the others but....... Maybe you could clean out the UNF thread in the hose with a 3rd-cut/ plug tap. I suspect that the thread just needs clearing out at the deepest part of it. Happened to me on the clutch hose as I recall.

That’s not a bad call Peter, certainly worth investigating.

The hose doesn’t look deep enough. I did this exact job last summer and used hoses from Minispares which fitted perfectly.

Will see if I can find a pic

Discs Graeme, its the original dated 1071 subframe. Thorpe, rather than mess around I have just ordered some mini spares ones ;-)

Ah OK - I have some NOS Unipart drum brake ones spare but they'll be too short.
