Those are nice cars, and the climate "Down under" has been good for them 8-)

One can imagine how easy & fast, such a rustfree car would be to restore :D

The '65 Deluxe shouldn't really be described as CKD. The local content was pretty high by that stage. Pretty much all of the panels were being pressed out in Australia. Many of the panels are different from UK ones, for example the number plate recess and bracket on the rear are smaller to suit Australian number plates, the floors (which they say they'll replace) should have covered recesses for the hydrolastic pipes and the front panel is a different shape between the headlights and grille.

The '61 was a CKD, but ironically it seems to have lost its English boot lid and has a later Australian one fitted. The hardest bit with restoring the early ones is the trim. The local vinyl was different and repro isn't available.

It is not uncommon for early cars to have the later OZ bootlids, when they got damaged they just put the newer lid on. our cars only ran the long plate till about mid 64?

There seems to be a profitable market for importing rust free RHD Japanese 1990's Rover Mini's back to the UK......are these 'Aus' Minis a sign of things to come, ie. are relatively rust free RHD Australian Mk1 Mini's & Coopers also now becoming worth importing to the UK for restoration projects?

The 997 Cooper is now listed:

He had these at Gaydon Mini Show in June. The 61 car was priced at £5k. Obviously no takers. I wouldn't have called it 'rust free' either. Plenty of UK cars around in similar condition for less money.
