Refitting the quarter lights to Duffy. The seals that were on were incorrect, they were door seals!
I now have the seals from Mini Spares and they are MUCH better.
Where is the preferred place for the joint? I had been considering behind the over centre catch.
But the seal at the hinge is binding a bit where the lip is actually going into the hinge. Should the trim be trimmed at this point to make the hinge easier and take the “binding” out of it? Also locate the joint here?
Any advice would be much appreciated. TIA.

Re: Opening quarter light seals
I always put the joint on the bottom in the middle, this is where it is on my unmessed with cars.

Re: Opening quarter light seals
Thanks for your reply Mark, I was thinking no one was going to respond to me!
I have done one side, I was thinking about placing the joint, centre bottom, but decided to place it in the centre of the piano hinge. That seems to work very well. I fitted the rubber all the way round, but where the joint was going to be I cut the rubber around 50mm longer, butted the ends the worked backwards pushing & lifting the “loop” until it disappeared. I have seen in the past when the joints are butted but not tightly, the ends shrink back over time leading a gap.
