Wiper wheelboxes

Sifting through more parts in the condition as they were removed from my car today I came across the wheelboxes.

The garage that took it apart weren’t too bothered about saving anything and they wrecked the threads on the wheelboxes, which otherwise were in good condition.

Has anyone successfully replaced the innards of the mk3 onward wheelboxes with the Mk1 workings? Are they compatible with the original tubes?

MkI tubes won't work with MkIII wheel boxes. Also the MkIII gear wheels are smaller so unlikely MkI inards will fit. When I converted to MkIII wheel boxes I found I needed a 150 degree gear in my DR3A wiper motor to get a decent sweep.

So with some jiggling about of bits, a conversion to use the Mk3 wheelboxes is possible?

I have a 130 degree arc wheel in the motor, and some of the tubes are slightly damaged too. It looks like the option for new stuff is a cut and flare to fit tube, so that probably would have to be changed too.

Someone said on here some time ago that you could mix and match the different wheelboxes and distance tubes by using small-bore copper central heating pipe as the new tube. And being copper it is simple to flare or sweat an olive on if you can't the right size flaring tool.

Please feel to correct or ridicule the idea.
