Quick brake switch Q.

Fitting the loom today and realised the spur for the brake switch is pretty short, then realised that I have no switch triggered by the pedal.
As I have said before, my car came in boxes of bits and a shell.
So how is the brake light triggered please?

Ta.

For Mk1 and mk2 cars Its a hydraulic switch in the brake pipe union under the clutch housing.

Not sure when they moved to the mechanical switch on the pedal but well into the 70s I reckon.

Thanks, that explains it.

I don't suppose anyone has a part number, as I do not have one!

Cheers

13H3735 for the pedal mounted switch ~1976 onward
BMK1903A for the thin locknut to hold it in place on the pedal box

13H1731 for the earlier Mk1/Mk2 hydraulic type
(Intermotor 51600 for non-OEM replacement)

I haven't found the replacement (mechanical) switches too good in recent years.

I've been using these, similar money and a much better switch;-

If you use silicon hydraulic fluid the Intermotor will only last a few months. The Harley Davidson hydraulic switch I'm currently using has lasted a couple of years, so far.
