Hi guys,

I have a complete driveshaft that i purchased years ago with the flange/yoke at one end and cv joint on the other.

i'm worried i might have bought a Austin 1300 etc shaft

Its total length is 478mm or 18 3/4 inchs

Its for a 1962 850

Can anyone confirm what it is and what side if possible?

The assembled length is flexible because the inner yoke slides on splines but that would appear to be about right. Assuming it's a factory assembled shaft the giveaway is of course the CV joint. If it is correct for drum brakes then it isn't an ADO16 shaft as that will be the larger type (also used on disk braked Minis). When dismantled, there are two similar length long shafts - One is 15 1/2" and the other is 15 13/16" long. The shorter variant of those two is a short ADO16 shaft. It should also have a raised ring on it I think.

That length i've given is with the shaft pushed together so at its shortest length.

You say the give away is the cv joint, in what way is it different??

Drum braked Minis have a 7/8" diameter CV shaft. The ADO16 CV is bigger.
