Re fitting heater

Post by Steve A »

I have gone to refit my heater tonight in my mk1 and think i may be missing something. The hooks on the bulkhead that the bolts sit in are miles too far apart it seems?
am i missing something? i have tried bending the lugs in a bit but they are no where near close enough.
Anyone got any ideas or advise? thanks Steve

That is ok. The heater threaded bar sit on the lugs. There should be a nut and washer on the left threaded bar which locks the heater to the bracket.

The right hand bar sits in the hook and squeaks

Yes after writing that post I started to dout my self.
The early heaters only had short threaded rods at the back. The later heaters hook on both brackets.
The hooks are probably set wide apart so as the heater could be biased to one side or the other depending whether right or left hand drive.
Your heater only hooks on one, and is held tight with a nut and washer.

Hi, Thanks fot the info. When i fetched the heater out the loft it only had one nut on the left as you say. I'll have to bend the brackets back now
I'll fit it tommorow now, thanks again, Steve

Don't know what i would do without this forum :D
cheers Steve
